Front load washing machines are quite obviously the kind of washing machines that you put clothes into the washing machine through a door on the front of the machine instead of a door on the top of the washing machine which is called a top load washing machine. Front load washer machines water usage is substantially less than a traditional washing machine. The old top load washing machines had to have water up to the highest level of the clothes in order to get all of the clothes wet and thereby complete the cleaning process. Front load washing machines water fill only partially compared to the level of the clothes and then use the rotating motion to move the clothes in and out of the water insuring that all the clothes are moved through the water and are thoroughly cleaned. Front load washing machines energy efficiency is much higher than the older model top load washers. By using the smaller amount of water the machine has much less weight to rotate and the motors demand less electricity to wash the same amount of clothing. All of this leads to a higher efficient spin cycle. The other reduced energy front load washing machines offer is from the next stage in the laundry cycle. If you use an identical dryer after washing identical loads of clothes, the clothes washed in the front load washing machine will take much shorter amount of time to dry completely in your gas dryer or electric dryer than the clothes washed in a top load washing machine.

The benefits of a top load washing machine I find are singular. The top load washer is much easier on the back since you don't have to bend over to load and unload the machine. However this benefit can be offset with the front load washing machine pedestals that can lift the machine higher by as much as two feet. The best front load washing machine benefit for our family has been the reduced time to complete a load of wash. With the method of washing and the lower volume of water the front load washer time for completing a load is shorter by eight to ten minutes and then the drying time can be reduced by as much as 25 minutes. Our family used a Fischer Paykel top load washing machine that had most of the benefits of a front load washing machine, but it was four hundred dollars more than a Kenmore front load washing machine and it didn't last as long.
